Capt Robert Ebbitts, 82, years ago keeper of Cedar Island lighthouse and well known in Sag Harbor, died at Southold Monday of last week. He is survived by his widow and two sons. Capt "Bob" was a veteran of the Civil War, Co H 127th Regiment NY Volunteers. He served for 30 years in the Lighthouse Department: one year as keeper of Plum Island light; six years at Cedar Island, and 23 years as keeper of Horton's Point light, in the town of Southold.
