Gertrude Bruce Wright DeBoard was born March 15, 1910, in Verden. Her parents were James M. and Mary Bruce. Her siblings were; Arabell Henricks, Irene Davis, Elizabeth Wolfenberger, James M. Jr. Bruce, John Bruce, Albert Bruce, and Robert Bruce.

Gertrude entered in marriage to Paul DeBoard, in 1936, in Kingfisher, OK., with a son, Bruce Wright. Paul raised Bruce as a son from an early age.

Paul and Gertrude owned and operated DeBoard Produce and Hardware store on Main Street in Verden for over 50 years. They purchased the store from Mr. and Mrs. Kenzel Protzman. This was a business that had small and large appliances as well as feed and seed.

Gertrude enjoyed making quilt tops and crocheting in her spare time. She was known for her home-cooked meals.

Their home was located on First Street in Verden and it used to be a boarding house. They raised large gardens and flower beds for over 50 years. They were both active in the Verden First Christian Church.

Gertrude passed away April 9, 1990, in Verden.
