DEATH OF MRS. TEELA
Resident of County for Quarter Century Succumbs to Appendicitis-Funeral Will be Held Saturday.
Mrs. Augusta Teela, wife of Fred W. Teela, resident of Winnebago county for more than a quarter of a century, passed away at 2:30 o'clock this morning at St. Mary's Hospital from complications following appendicitis. An operation was performed some days ago but the disease had progressed too far for surgery to save her. Mrs. Teela was born February 17, 1854, near West Bend, and was Miss Augusta C. Nohr before her marriage. she was married October 25, 1875, and the couple came to Winnebago County from Fond du lac about twenty-five years ago. For several years Mr. Teela was in business in this city, but for the last five years the family has resided on a farm just outside the Village of Winneconne. There are besides the husband eleven children, and seven grandchildren surviving. There are five daughters, Mrs. Oscar S. Morse and Mrs. F. h. Hull, both of Oshkosh, Mrs. Peter S. Schnyder of Winneconne, Mrs. Clair A. Nichols of battle Creek, Mich., and Miss Hilda M. Teela of Chicago. There are six sons, Richard J. Teela, of Oshkosh; Louis A. Teela of Chicago; Warren D. and Elmer G. Teela, both of Winneconne; Lee T. Teela, of Havre, Mont. and Fred W. Teela, Jr., who is a member of the 109th company of the United States Marine Corps, somewhere in France. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence in the Town of Winneconne, Rev. Mr. Alberts officiating. Interment will be at Plummer Cemetery.
Mrs. Teela was a woman of marked intelligence and grace, and of lovable disposition. The many friends of the family, gratified and encouraged at the early information from the hospital that she had weathered the operation nicely and was coming along in assuring manner, were shocked by the later announcement that untoward developments had intervened and that death hovered nigh. And the spirited never ceasing fight that has been made to save the life of this estimable lady, both of herself and her loved family, has been watched with deep and tender interest.
