Muggers was purchased from a pet store in Beaverton, Oregon. She was in a cage with her brother. She had that air of confidence that said, "I pick you!" She was pestering her brother to the point I felt sorry for him. I should have got them both, but I did not have the money for two registered Poms. I litter box trained her. She was very smart, but oh so strong willed. She would only do what I trained her to do if she had me to watch and praise her. She would do nothing without recognition. She was very word smart. She had 20 some toys and I could say the name of a toy and she would search the entire upper level of the house until she retrieved that particular toy. What a bird dog she would have made! She could not tolerate not having an audience. Within the first year she did so much damage from separation anxiety while I was at work that I had to replace the up stairs carpeting and kitchen flooring. Yes she chewed through linoleum by poking first a hole with a tooth and continuing on from there along with numerous holes through carpeting and padding. She did about $10,000 worth of damage including baseboards before I finally got her a companion dog after one year. The moment she had an audience all the damage stopped. The dog I got her for companionship was a blue female Chow Chow I named She-Bear. She-Bear was the runt of her litter at 34 pounds and very shy. I was worried that the Chow might hurt the Pom. I told the owner of my fear. The lady said "Don't be surprised if the Pom dominates the Chow due to being younger and having the personality she had. That was spot on advise. Muggers never met a person or dog that she could not get the best of due to her winning personality and indomitable will! She was her Daddy's girl. She would show her butt to a woman that got in between her and her Daddy - no kidding. You were so much fun to be around Muggers. More than once I called you a "Piece of Work!" There was no heart you could not melt if you wanted to.
