Carl Bailey, 79, 2801 N. Old U.S. 31, passed away at 6:29 a.m. Thursday at his residence.

He was born January 2, 1930, in Decoy, Ky., the son of Sebern and Icie (Bradley) Bailey. On June 14, 1953, in Wabash, he married Phyllis J. Crull and she survives.

Mr. Bailey had been the owner and operator of Bailey's Furniture, Rochester, for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Riverview Community Church.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis J. Bailey, Rochester; two daughters, Karen and husband David Helt, Rochester, Sandy and husband Jim Oliver, Angola; son Alan Bailey, Rochester; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Marie and husband Bob Burrous, Peru, Forrest and wife Mary Bailey, Argos, Ivory and husband Cecil Mann, Winamac, Ray and wife Rachel Bailey, Bradenton, Fla., Eddie and wife Lou Bailey, Knox, Troy and wife Frieda Bailey, North Judson, Beech and wife Linda Bailey, North Judson, and Sharon and husband Nathan Marcum, Knox; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Coaet Bailey and Morris Bailey; and two sisters, Lassie Clemens and Betty Jenson.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Rod Ruberg officiating. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.
