John Cook, son of Capt. John Cook and his wife Mary Havens, was born probably 1683 or 1684 at Portsmouth, R.I. and died 10 April 1764, in his 81st year, at Newport, R.I., where he is buried in Newport Common Burial Ground beside his second wife. He married first Rachel Pearce about 1707 the daughter of John Pearce and Mary Tallman.
