She was born Thursday, May 7, 1931, in Kemp to Thomas Polson and Grace (Potter) Polson. She married James Leonard Morehead March 4, 1950, in Sherman, Texas. Sarge lived in Bryan County most of her life. She spent many years as church secretary at Faith Temple and was involved in church fund raisers, jail visits and singing. She was an artist and at one time a chief lifeguard. She enjoyed her flowers and loved talking about God. She was called "granny" by all the kids that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Dec. 16, 1967, six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by daughters Cherrie Gossett and husband Jerome, Ivanhoe, Texas, and Terrie Mayo and husband John, Denison, Texas; sister Mell Schultz and husband Jack, Farman, Neb.; grandchildren Shane St. Clair, Calera, Shawn St. Clair and wife Denise, Dallas, Texas, Luke Gossett and wife Alecia, Colbert, Rachel Keeler and husband Sam, Ivanhoe, Texas; great-grandchildren Blake, Blaine, Shade, Kanon, Hannah, Ethan, Cheyan, Frances and Neveah; nephew Haskell Polson; and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery, Colbert, with Shane St. Clair, Shawn St. Clair, Blaine St. Clair, Luke St. Clair, Sam Keeler, Curtis Russell and Harold Keith serving as pallbearers.
Family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Faith Temple Church, 928 N. Eighth Avenue, Durant, OK 74701.
