Edmond died 30 December 1966 at Albany, New York. He was the son of Joseph Lemay Sr. and Melina (Marie Emilia) Lantagne one of 6 sons and 7 daughters. He was Baptized at St Fortunat, Wolfe County, Quebec, Canada on August 4, 1883. His family moved to the Lewiston-Auburn area of Maine around 1886, lived in Biddeford, York County, Maine in 1892 and then on to Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts in 1894. Edmond worked in the cotton mills in Amesbury at the turn of the century. He met and fell in love with (Marie) Josephine Corriveau, the daughter of Theodore and Celestine Provost Corriveau. They married on October 21, 1901 at the St Joseph Church, Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. Edmond moved his family to Cohoes, Albany County, New York in 1912. There he worked in the cotton mills until his retirement in 1948.
He and Josephine had nineteen children of which eleven lived to adulthood. He is predeceased by his parents; his children; Dora Aurelia (1903-1907); Joseph Theodore (1904-1905); Alfred Leon (1906-1910; Obella Antoinette (1909-1909);Blanche Marie (1911-1911); Joseph Albert (1914-1915); Pierre Edmond (1923-1923); Marie Blanche (1924-1924); Marie Albertine Lemay Cyr (1914-1943); PFC Omer Joseph (1917-1945) while serving with the US Marine Corpin Okinawa, Japan and Corporal Ernest Lionel (1930-1950) MIA-POW while serving with the US Army in North Korea.
He is survived by his brother, Wilfred and 2 sisters, Laura Lemay Lerose Benoit and Emeline Lemay Gagnon; his wife of 67 years, Josephine; 3 sons, Joseph, George and Albert and 5 daughters, Josephine, Laura, Emeline, Lucy and Marie Rose, over 45 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Edmond was laid to rest in St Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, Saratoga, County, New York on the 3rd of January 1967.
