Casper Habig was born May 30, 1830 in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. He sailed from Bremen on the sailing ship Ernestine from Bremen, bound for New Orleans, arrived there on May 10, 1852. On the ship's log his occupation was listed as "potter", and he later was a brick maker in Kansas. He first moved to Palmyra, Mo. (cousin living in Palmyra) married Katherine Deiz, then moved to Hanover, Kansas where his wife Katherine died and was buried. They had 7 children. He then moved to Yakima, Wa. where he died June 04, 1902.
