Suffragist, feminist. Hunt was the host for the tea to plan the Seneca Falls Woman's Rights Convention in 1848. A Hicksite Quaker who joined the Progressive Friends, Hunt was an abolitionist who provided shelter for passengers on the Underground Railroad. She served on a committee to relieve suffering in Ireland during the potato famine in 1847. She was also involved in temperance, agrarian reform, and the boycott of slave-produced goods. Jane was the fourth wife of Richard Pell Hunt, who had been widowed three times. Both Jane and Richard were among the 100 signers of the Declaration of Sentiments.
