Cloyd Boyd,82,of Clifton Fork Virginia of Buchanan County passed away Jan 30 2002 in a Grundy Virginia hospital following a long illness.
He was born in Buchanan County Virginia and was a son of the late John and Mahaella Helton Boyd
He was an Army Vet of WWII, he was a retired coal miner formerly employed by Island Creek Coal Co. and was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local 1374.
Preceded him in death is his wife--Stella Mae Osborne Boyd
One son--Michael Lee Boyd
Three brothers--Sherman Boyd--Clarence Boyd and Arthur Boyd
Three sisters--Eunis Boyd Davis--Laura "Mae" Boyd and Ethel Boyd Burke
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family in his generation.
Survivors are three daughters and their husbands--Mrs. Dallas(Anna Ruth)Horn of Abingdon Virginia--Mrs. Bill(Ellen)Gray of Conway S C and Mrs. Jim (Mary) Keen of Wytheville Virginia
One son and his wife--John Boyd and Wilma of Clifton Fork Virginia
Eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Feb 2 2002 at one PM at the Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel in Keen Mountain Virginia with Brother Don Smith and Brother Thurman Chapman officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill Virginia.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion John Ratliff Post 164 of Grundy Virginia.
