His first wife was Mary Hendricks, who he married on October 07, 1823 in Greensburg, Indiana. They had four children: Daniel who married Martha Ann Tarkington, John House who married Lucinda T. Nevitt, Elizabeth who married Samuel Hogue and Ann Mariah who married George Nevitt.
Mary Hendricks died September 17, 1833 of typhoid fever and he was married a second time to Rachel Fisher in the spring of 1835 in Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania. (Both had lost their parents, and there were already several Stewart-Fisher marriages.)
Rachel was the daughter of Matthias Fisher and Martha Thompson. Rachel and Silas Stewart had one child, Martha Jane (nicknamed "Pet") and she married Brigadier General John Thomas Wilder of Civil War fame. Rachel and Silas later moved to Rockwood, Tennessee with the Wilders, and then to Johnson City, TN. He either died there or in Rockwood (per family record). He was returned to Greensburg for burial.
Note: Silas' brother Jacob married his first wife's sister, Ann Hendricks.
