Much adored by "parents" John and Liz Hancock, Rufus passed away at about age 15. He was adopted late in life, so no one knows his true age. He was a "loveable bastard", known to bite the hand that fed him (and everyone else), while demanding a place in your lap a moment later.
Rufus died naturally in my arms, in my home, while our parents were travelling. I had to make decisions for his final resting place (I knew Daddy wanted burial but had no direction - PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR WISHES IN ADVANCE). Experiencing Rufus' passing gave me the foresight and courage to allow my own dogs Bo, Libby and Rayya to hospice and pass at home naturally, and helped me to make the choice (in advance) of cremation rather than burial for my own dogs. I am eternally grateful to Rufus for preparing me for what was to come.
