Phyllis was born in Fergus, Montana to Elmer and Merle (Hunter) McGrady on Apr 24, 1910. She eventually moved to the Newlan Creek area in Meagher County MT. There she was the School teacher at the country school. June 8 of 1932 she married Ely C Johnson. They had 2 children together, a boy and a girl. They later divorced. She then moved to Cooke City Montana for a teaching job.She then married Jack "Floyd" Haskins on June 5 1940. They made their home in Livingston, Montana. They had one child, Aleta Rose "Rose".
