Mrs. Sarah McMaster Dies At Smithboro Home, Sunday Night - Published Jun 12, 1948

Mrs. Sarah McMaster, lifelong resident of Bond County, passed away at her home near Smithboro at 11:45 p.m., Sunday, after an illness of three weeks. She was 81 years , two months and four days.

The body was removed to the Runells Funeral Home to prepare the services to be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Mulberry Grove Christian church and burial will be made at Mulberry Grove cemetery.

Mrs. McMater's maiden name was Sarah Hodson, a daughter of Nathan and Mary Hodson and she was born in Bond county, April 17, 1867. She was married Dec. 2, 1888, to James Wilson McMaster at the Methodist church in Greenville.

Five children were born to them, four daughters and a son,

, - Mrs. Ed Smith of Mulberry Grove, Mrs. Martha Bolt of Smithboro and James McMaster of Sorento, and Mrs. Arlet Corson of Shobonier, who preceded her in death.

She leave two brothers, Philip Hodson of Anthony, Kans., and Henry Hodson of Bloomington, Ind., 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Five grandchildren preceded her in death.

Mrs McMaster became a member of Smithboro Christian church 55 years ago.
