Orrin West Active in "Work on His
Farm. "
On his eightieth birthday last Tuesday,
while working on his farm, Orrin West,
who has lived in-Clay for nearly; threequarters
of a century, was surprised by
his children, who drove out to the farm
from Liverpool and Syracuse.
Mr. West was one of a family of nine
children who moved into the town of
Clay with their parents from Pennsylvanla
about seventy-five years ago, With
his brothers he was taught the trade of
a cooper, at which he worked until he
bought a farm, and. as he cleared the
land himself he used the timber to make
barrels.
Mr. West's healthi s excellent and
despite his eighty years he is active in
farm work. The surprise, party included
Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. West, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred West, Mrs. Helen Stewart and
Mrs. Julia Gault.
