Isaac was a true pioneer, he was born in Grayson county Va. and moved to White county Tn. with his parents. His father died in White Co. Tennessee in 1819. He married Charity about 1825 and had son William C. Bedwell. He then moved his family to Lawrence county Indiana abt. 1828 where his brothers William Bedwell, Ira Theo Bedwell, and Martin Bedwell and other relatives were living. After children (J.W.)John Bedwell, (J.R.)James Bedwell, Elizabeth BEDWELL, Mary Jane(Polly)BEDWELL McMains, (B.F.)Benjamin Franklin Bedwell were born in Lawrence county, Isaac then moved to Lee county Illinois in the late 1830's where three more children were born, they are Agnes(Agga) BEDWELL McNeil, Abigail (Abby) BEDWELL Marvin/Mills/Gardner, and Eliza C BEDWELL. By the early 1840's His family was one of the earliest pioneer families to settle in Monroe township Mahaska county Iowa. The Bedwell cemetery is part of Isaacs homestead. Isaacs 1st wife Charity was the first burial there in 1844.
After Charitys death, Isaac married Eleanor HARRIS McCann, a widow of James A. McCann.
Some researchers misread the handwriting of her surname on the registar of her marriage to Isaac in Sigourney, Keokuk county as "Mollen" this marrage name is misinterperated and incorrectly thought to be her maiden name and is posted on several sites on the internet. I have seen this actual record and it is clearly "McCann". She brought one son Albert McCann, a son from Ellenors previous marriage to James McCann into this marriage. Isaac then fathered the following two sons with her: Martin Edwin Bedwell, and Alphilius F. Bedwell (aka Harry/Harvy on Isaacs will). Afters Isaacs death Eleanor married John T. Overton 24 Mar. 1854 in Lancaster, Keokuk, Iowa
