Services for Ruth Cannon, 83, of Abernathy, Texas will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October, 12, 2010 in the Abernathy First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mike Davis and Louis Schaap officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock.

Mrs. Cannon died at her home, Thursday, October 7, 2010.

She was born May 6, 1927 in Sioux Falls, S.D. She married Roy Cannon in 1948 in Lubbock and he preceded her in death August 2, 1981. They lived on the farm in the Abernathy area until moving into town in 1959. She graduated Nursing School and served as an RN in several hospitals, she also worked for family practice division at HSC in Lubbock as head nurse until her retirement in 1996.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Cannon of Lubbock and Gene Cannon of Corpus Christi; a sister, Louise Thorson Perkins of Artesia, N.M.; two grandchildren, Crystal and Brett; and one great-grandchild.

The family would like to thanks the following for providing the best of care; Dr. Ragain, Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Laski, Dr. Azab and Dr. Perez-Verdia.
