Helen Lincoln, daughter of Dr Levi and Desire (Thaxter) Lincoln of Hingham, was a fifth cousin of President Abraham Lincoln. She was the first wife of John Ware, Boston physician, and bore him eight children from 1824 to 1840. One of her sons, Robert, died of typhoid fever in 1863 while caring for soldiers in his own regiment and escaped slaves alike during the Civil War.
