Parents of Johannes "John" Blum were descendants of the 1767 German influx into Russia by invitaton of the German born Russia Czar, "Katherina the Great". Johannes parents were: Phillip Blum (1854-1885) and Christina Traudt (1853-1874) both parents were born and died in Norka, Saratov, Volga, Russia. Johannes "John" was also born in Norka, Saratov, Volga, Russia and he had seven siblings, (two brothers and five sisters).

Johannes married Elizabeth Heinrich on January 28, 1897 in Norka, Saratov, Volga, Russia. They had four children born in Norka but two of their sons died before age two.

John's brother Phillip came to America followed by John's sister Elizabeth and her husband Heinrich MOHR. John's sister Elizabeth sent money for the migration of John, his wife Elizabeth and their surviving two children, Jacob and Anna Katharina. They arrived in America in 1905. John's brother Jacob and sister Dorotha Burbach followed making three of John's siblings in the United States.

After arriving in America, John and Elizabeth had a daughter and a son. The son however, died within the year but the daughter, Bernadine Blum lived from 1915-2006.

John was a man of wanderlust, therefore, the family lived in numererous states until John was older - then he settled down in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois and he died at the Cook County Hospital. Even though around 1929 he and Elizabeth Separated /divorced, John never remarried. Bio by: JPCZim... Irisjcz of Blum_Pierce+Family_2008 Tree.
