Twice married, she was the wife of the late Dr. Alvey M. Isanogle, the former dean of Western Maryland College, and Harry Edgar Royer, who died in 1985.
She was retired from Western Maryland College, where she was the chairperson of the biology department, and professor emerita of biology. She worked at Western Maryland College from 1942 to 1979. She also taught one year at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and the University of Hue in South Vietnam. She was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Ohio State University. She was one of the few women who went to graduate school and was the only woman in her graduating class of 1942.
She was a member of the Westminster Church of the Brethren. She was past president of the Carroll Lutheran Village Resident Association. Since retiring she has donated annually to the Royer Biology Scholarship at Western Maryland College. She endowed a scholarship at Randolph Macon College in Virginia.
Surviving are her sisters Fay Beasley, Carrie Carpenter and Mrs. Donald Perkins, all of Ohio; and nine* nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 2 pm Sunday at the Westminster Church of the Brethren, Bond Street, Westminster, with her pastor, the Rev. Paul Groff officiating, assisted by Robert Chambers, president of Western Maryland College. Interment of ashes will be at Meadow Branch Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carroll Lutheran Village.
