Maggie loved strawberries and oranges. Our backyard was always filled with wild strawberries and she would wander around and eat one little strawberry after another.

My dad would pick an orange and sit with Maggie on the swing feeding her tidbits of his orange. Who knew a dog would love fruit?

Maggie was a beagle mix puppy from an unwanted litter that our neighbor was going to drown. I was furious with our neighbor and took Maggie.

She had many health issues, but she loved chasing the ball and would chase it until she couldn't breathe.

She formed a special bond with my dad and he taught her to "sing" which really was a long yelping howl with him. She loved to follow him around his garden and eat whatever he tossed to her.

When I moved away she bonded with my little cocker spaniel Monte and the two of them would race around the yard chasing the ball for hours.

When Maggie became too ill, we tearfully took her to the veterinarian ..... poor Monte spent weeks looking around every door and every corner for her.

She was a pretty little girl who loved to cuddle and sit with you. Maggie was beautiful in the Florida sunshine and I sometimes wonder if she still wanders around Dad's old garden where she was happy.
