~OBITUARY OF FREDERICK JOHN TEPE

Frederick John TEPE, 55, longtime Canadian business man, passed away on January 03, 1948 following a heart attack while shopping. He had not been ill and had spent the afternoon hunting.

Mr. TEPE was buying groceries in the Best Way store about 7:00 o’clock in the evening when he told his son, Franklin, who works in the store, that he did not feel well. Franklin offered to take him home, but Mr. TEPE would not hear of it, and left by the back door into the alley.

About a half hour later, Mr. TEPE was discovered lying in the alley in an unconscious condition. He was rushed to his home and a doctor summoned, arriving there about 8:00 o’clock. Mr. TEPE did not rally and passed away at his home at 11:45.

Born July 03, 1892, he attended school in Canadian and at Kansas City, Missouri. He married the former Pearl DOUGHTY, of Alva, Oklahoma, and was engaged in the lumber and trucking businesses for the greater part of his life.

Left to mourn his death are his wife; five daughters: Norma Jean and Maxine, of Amarillo, Mary Ellen and Rose Marie, of Canadian, and Mrs. Virginia Lee GAYLOR of Compton, California; three sons: Carl and Franklin; of Canadian, and Edward, of Podwin, Kansas; two sisters: Mrs. Grace SPILLER and Miss Minnie TEPE, of Canadian; by one brother, Ben TEPE, of Canadian and by a host of friends throughout the Panhandle.

Funeral services were at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe E. Boyd officiating. Pallbearers were Ed LITTLE, Bill JOB, Bud KING, Ira BETTIS, Enid SHEPHERD, and Bud JAMISON.

Burial was made in the Canadian Cemetery.
