Maxine Strickland, 85, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 29, 2007.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery East with Frank Tepe of Blackwell Christian Church in Blackwell, Okla., officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Stickland was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Hutchinson, Kan. She graduated from Canadian High School. After graduation, she joined the U.S. Army and was discharged after World War II. She worked at Amarillo Hardware for more than 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter O. Strickland; a brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include two brothers, Carl Tepe and wife Peggy of Fort Worth and Frank Tepe and wife Lola of Ponca City, Okla.; two sisters, Corky Tepe of Amarillo and Mary Raiford of El Reno, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
