Joseph Bauer was the son by the 1st wife of Peter Bauer, Maria Gertrude Roehman/Rieman 1804-1846, they married in Brockshied in Februay 1833

Peter Bauer was married twice:

1. Maria Gertrude ROEHMANN, married in February 1833 in Brockscheid, Mayen, Rhineland, Prussia (Germany) Their children: Joseph, Maria Helena, Nicolas, Anna Maria, Peter and Mathias
Of the above children, their son Joseph Bauer emigrated from Prussia (Germany) to America

2. Margaretha NIEDHOFER, married in July 1851 in Brockscheid, Mayen, Rhineland, Prussia (Germany) Their children: Peter Joseph, Maria Gertrude, Johann Nicolas and Catharina
Of the above children, all of them emigrated from Prussia (Germany) to America, except daughter Catharina who was born in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois in November 1857, died 11 July 1870

Died during a diphtheria epidemic that swept the area. His 12 year old half sister Catherina also died of diphtheria.
