Headstone lists Demetrios Delakis however correct surname is ANGELAKIS. He was born in Greece, the son of George and Chrisi Dermitzakis Angelakis. He went by the name of "Jim Dallas" when he came to the United States. He has two immigration records. He arrived in NY the first timeo n August 18, 1910 (S.S. Regina D Italia) with a destination of the Van Houton minging camp in New Mexico. He apparently returned to Italy, as he arrived in New York a second time June 4, 1914 (S.S. Saxonia) with a destination of Hackensack, NJ. His future wife would immigrate arriving in NY on December 1915 and live in Brunswick, NJ (40 miles away). He married Calliopi Mathiodakis May 17, 1917 in Van Houten, NM. They were the parents of Rev. George, Mary, Nick and Panteles "Peter" (the children all used the surname DALLAS or DELLAS). After Jim's death his widow returned to Crete, Greece with their three living children. After WW II, their sons George Dellas and Panteles (aka Peter Dellas) returned to the U.S. (arrived June 30, 1947 NY). George was an Orthodox priest and he served as priest for the Greek church in Price, UT in 1957.


Jim was among the miners killed in the Castle Gate Mine Disaster on March 8, 1924.

Jim died in a mine explosion.
