Geraldine D. Sims, 94, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, died on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Sims was born in Jefferson City, Tn., to John and Kathleen Donahoo. She was a longtime member of First Centenary United Methodist Church and a founder and charter member of Lookout Mountain United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sims was co-owner and operator of Fairyland Courts on Lookout Mountain which became Mountain Gardens Apartments. She was also a graduate of Erlanger School of Nursing, Class of 1939, a member of the Dahlia Society of Tennessee and the Tri-State Herb Society.
Survivors include her sister, Henrietta Maxine Donahoo; children, Maxine Tipton Sims (Dan) McNutt, Jesse B. (Cyndee) Sims, Donald Payne (Dee Dee) Sims, and Paul Donahoo (Suzanne) Sims; 13 grandchildren; eight great-Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse B. Sims, Sr.; sister, Aleen Donahoo; and brother, Lynn Donahoo.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the First Centenary UMC Kate Lyle West Chapel with Dr. David Harr officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
