Sister of Ida E. (Spevak), Irene R. (Halsey), Martha L. (Wilson), Herman W. Zessin and Albert F. Zessin.
Wife of Willie Quinton Utley. Foster mother of Doug Winchester.
In the Late 1960's and early 1970's, she resided in Thayer, Nebraska, and Willie and her ran a Tavern, which today is called Max's Bar, on Cedar St.
Marie's sister Martha (my Grandmother), told me that one time Marie and her husband Bill had an argument and he told her she was crazy. Later that evening Marie and Martha were in the car and she told Martha "he thinks I'm crazy I'll show him crazy", and went tearing into Thayer High-beams on, blowing the horn and he came out of the bar and she spun the car around and around there in the middle of the street blowing the horn and then went tearing out of Thayer leaving a huge cloud of dust behind her, and she looked at Martha with a smile on her face and said "you'll think he thinks I'm crazy now!" and laughed.
Martha just shook her head and said "Marie".
In the 1970's moved with her husband and son to Dardanelle, Arkansas, where she worked as a Nurse's Aide.
She passed away in Dardanelle.
She was always sweet.
Her husband is buried next to her.
