James Long was in the civil war. He enrolled August 27, 1864. Co.F. 47th Infantry. Internally injured September 27, 1864 at the battle of Pilot Knob. Pension application reads" Severe rupture of left side caused by getting knocked from the top of the breast works by a large ball striking my gun while on my shoulder and knocked myself and several others off killing two men dead and in falling among the timbers I was ruptured as above stated" James married Martha Jane Wright March 23, 1849 in Jefferson county, Tennessee. To this union 9 children were born.
