He attended school at the old Hill School. He was farmer who was well known as a tobacco grower and grew some of the best sweet potatoes in the area. He was a crop reporter for the ASCS office in Chariton County for several years. He also drove a school bus for the Keytesville School system for 29 years.
He served in the armed forces during WW II spending three years in the Alaskan theatre. He was a member of the Brunswick American Legion Post over 30 years.
They were in charge of the military service at Asbury Cemetery. The Berry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with Elder Russell Key officiating. Music was provided by Adele Barnett, organist, and Debbie Sellers, vocalist.
Pallbearers were Norman Bentley, Johnnie Lee Smith, Gerald (Suze) Calvert, Denny Pearman, Pete Huckabey and Ted Quick.
