Fran came to California in the 1930's and worked as a film censor under Joseph Breen to enforce the Motion Picture Production Code. In 1941, Frances married Eric G. Stacey, a well-known film professional who worked as the first assistant director for David L. Selznick. They lived in the San Fernando Valley and became the parents of a son and daughter. The marriage endured until Eric Stacey's death in 1969. Frances relocated to the San Diego area after her husband's death and was a close friend and confidante of the well-known singer and actress Irene Manning.
