Both Alexander Oden and Joshua Oden were in the Sylacauga area before 1840 shown by early deeds, estates and wills. Many of the men who settled here brought their families and lived among the Indians until 1836, when the Indians were moved west. Joshua was an Ensign in the War of 1812 with 3rd REG'T (WIMBERLY'S), GEORGIA MILITIA.~Trish Funderburg Walls~
