Louis Simon, Sr., was born on December 1, 1909 to Joseph and Orelia Simon in Chataignier, Louisiana. In 1933, he married Mary Lewis and to this union was born fifteen children. He departed this life on Monday, November 13, 1979. Survivors include a devoted and loving wife of 46 years, Mary Simon. Eleven children: Orelia Alexander (Romeo, Sr), Rayford Simon (Rose), Loretha Myers (Felton, Sr), Mary Banks (Ezra), Louis Simon, Jr, (Maudry), Lorena Armstrong (Maurice), Agnes Simon, Isaac Simon, Erma Simon, Diana Loftis (William) and James Simon; 37 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; one brother: Alfred Simon of Iowa, Louisiana and two sisters: Omelia Bellard of Iowa, Louisiana and Ophelia Durrouseau of Lake Charles, Louisiana including nieces, nephews, relatives and family friends. Visitation was held at Singleton Funeral Home in Hempstead, Texas on Friday, November 17, 1979. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 18, 1979 1:00pm at the Bailey Chapel Church of God in Christ, 3004 Sledge Street, Waller, Texas with Supt. Thomas Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at the Hockley Community Cemetery in Hockley, Texas. Following the interment, the repast will be held at the home of Romeo Alexander, Sr in Waller, Texas.
