The ninth of thirteen children born to the late John and Eliza Sheets Sadberry, Hoza Sadberry, Sr., attended public school in the Benchley, Texas area and graduated from Kemp High School in 1942, then enlisted to serve in the United States Army during World War II until 1945 when he then joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 28 years from 1945 until his retirement in 1973 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. Following his retirement from the US Air Force, he moved to Austin, Texas where he first attended David Chapel Baptist Church before moving to Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Levi M. Roberts and later, Rev. Ricky Williams. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maudline; four sons: Rick Sadberry of Dallas, Reginald Sadberry of Houston, Gregory and Steven Sadberry, both of Austin; 5 grandchildren which includes 1 great-grandchild; four sisters: Kathryn McGee of Houston; Rubye Sadberry of Alexandria, Virginia; Imogene Charles and Vercille Miller of San Antonio, Texas including nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and family friends as well as the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church family. Visitation: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at the Fuller-Sheffield Funeral Home Chapel, 2808 East Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78702; Funeral services on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at 12, Noon at the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church, 2939 Pecan Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78723 with the Rev. Ricky Williams officiating. Interment with full military honors at Evergreen Cemetery in Austin, Texas
