Asa Whitestine, formerly of this city, a brother of the late Dr. O. G. Whitestine, died at his home in Akron, Ohio, Monday, according to word received by relatives in Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the residence and burial will be in Akron. Mrs. Millie Rice, who lives northeast of Huntington is a sister of Mr. Whitestine. Asa fought in the Civil War with Company F of the 47th Indiana Infantry. He entered as a private and mustered out as a 1st sergeant. His description upon entering was: dark complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, 5 ft. 3 in. tall. Born in Perry County, Ohio. Occupation, drayman. Pension claim number 850036.
