Mrs. Clarice Spruell Cox, age 92, died Friday, September 21, 2007. She was born in Carroll County on February 14th, 1915 to Norman Spruell and Belle Treadaway Spruell. She lived in Farmers High Community all of her life before moving to The Stewart House in Carrollton in 1999.

She attended grammar school at Farmers High and graduated from Bowdon High School in 1931. She married Kermit B. Cox, a farmer from Farmers High, November 29th, 1934. Mr. Cox passed away in 1993, after 58 years of marriage.

Active in the Parent Teacher Associations of Bowdon schools, Mrs. Cox held most offices of those organizations. She was a charter member and president for several years of both the Sprig "N" Dig Garden Club in Bowdon and the Carroll County Genealogical Society. She was a member of Abraham Baldwin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and also served on the Appeals Board of the Carroll County Zoning Commission.

She is survived by daughter, Carol Mitchell and son-in-law Hugh of Carrollton; son, Ben Cox and daughter-in-law Frances Hinesley Cox of Marietta, and son, Larry Cox of Farmers High; four grandchildren, Paige (David) Gedeon of Suwannee, GA, Jon (Tammy) Beall of Macon, Ben (Paige) Cox Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Chris (Joanna) Cox of Kennesaw; eight great-grandchildren, Luke, Regan and Grey Gedeon, Kathlyn and Bryant Beall, Peyton and Preston Cox, and Benjamin Cox, and two sisters-in-law, Jean Harman of Carrollton and Florence Cox of Austell.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Wessinger and brother, Doyce Spruell who was a casualty of World War II.

A family graveside service and interment will be Sunday, September 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Greer and Mr. Dick Tisinger officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jon Beall, Chris Cox, Ben Cox, Jr., David Gedeon, Ben Cox, Sr. and Larry Cox.
