Wife of James aged 72 yrs. "Early Vital Records of Mass. (Methuen Deaths)"

Father - Deacon John Harris, born May 2, 1725 in Methuen and died there on Sept. 18, 1801 (confirmed in "Mass. Vital Records to 1850")

Mother - Elizabeth Clark Harris, born Dec. 27, 1724 in Haverhill to Samuel and Abigail Clark and died in Methuen on Nov. 26, 1782.

Mary was married to James Mansur on Mar. 26, 1776, in Methuen, by Rev. Christopher Sargent. According to the House of Mansur (p. 27), "Mrs. Mansur, before her marriage, set out apple trees on the farm which was to be her future home. One of the trees is yet standing." (c. 1926)

Mary and John had nine children, all born in Dracut (memorials for all except Rhoda are linked below):

1) Hannah Lovejoy, b: Jan 3, 1777; d. Apr. 4, 1858. Married Oliver Whittier (1775-1853) on Dec 2 1800

2) James, Jr., b: Sep 9, 1779; d. Oct. 8, 1829. Married Abigail Griffin (1776-1860) in Methuen, intentions published Oct. 26, 1801

3) Mary, b: Oct 23, 1782; d. May 28, 1865. Married Capt. James Stevens (1784-1854), intentions published May 1, 1804

4) Abigail, b: Jul 1, 1784; d. Jul. 16, 1830. She married Samuel Richardson (1781-1872) on Aug 7, 1807

5) Elizabeth, b: Jun 16, 1786; d. Mar. 15, 1839. Married John Hunt (1782-1839) on Aug. 4, 1808

6) Rhoda, b: Feb 20, 1789; d. Mar. 11, 1866. Married George Titcomb (1786-1862) on Apr. 4, 1808

7) Daniel, b: Mar. 19, 1791; d. Jul. 26, 1829. Married Elizabeth Mooars Bailey (1798-1867) on Dec. 1, 1814

8) Eunice, b: Feb. 15, 1794; d. Aug. 27, 1829. Married 1st Ephraim Coburn and 2nd Abiel Jones

9) John Harris, b: Jun. 19 1795; Aug. 25, 1829. Married Lydia Thistle (1787-aft. 1870) on Aug. 6, 1810.

Mary died in 1826, more than ten years after her husband, and was also laid to rest in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
