Walter Salyer, 60, well known Flat Gap resident, died in a local hospital Tuesday, December 29 1961, after a week's illness.

The son of the late Claude and Mary Brown Salyer, he was born in this county December 3 1899, and had been a life long resident of Flat Gap community.

He was an employee of the Kentucky-West Virginia Gas Company and worked in the meter department.

He was a member of Flat Gap Lodge 616 F.&A.M.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs.Thelma Price Salyer; one son,John Edward Salyer, U.S. Air Force, Korea; one sister,Mrs. Eulas Williams of this city; two brothers,Hendrix Salyer and Oliver Salyer, both of Flat Gap.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday from the Bethel Church at Flat Gap with Lonza Reedas officiating minister.

Pallbearers were, Arthur Garrett, Carlos Slone, John P. Ward,Charles Kendrick, Fred A. Wells, Fred Baldridge Jr.,Lawrence Ketterhagen, Billy D. Herald, Bob Meade,Butler Horne, Bill Wills, Jim Derossett, Oka Dorton,Wendell P. Ratliff, Thomas R. Lemaster, Leo Allen, Henry Leedy,James Scutchfield, Ray Stephens, Harry Sandige, Woodrow Branham,Paul Lemaster, Harold Ensminger, Cline Salyers, Charlie Conley,Russell Horn, Jack Ratliff, Kelly Salyers, Hobert Holbrook,and Bee Daniels.
