Mrs. Salyer had been ill for several months.
She was born Dec. 10, 1874, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Hill Brown, and had resided all her life in Johnson County.
She was a member of one of the county's outstanding families.
She was a member of the Methodist Church having membership at Cannon's Chapel.
Her husband,Claude Salyer, preceded her in death in 1937.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Hendrix Salyer,Walter Salyer, Oliver Salyer, all of Flat Gap, Mrs. Lillie Williams, city, and the following brothers and sisters: Milton Brown, Catlettsburg, Mrs.Sarah Williams, Dingus, Mrs.Myrtie Burchwell, Ashland, Mrs.Rinda Brown, Portland, Oregon, and William Spencer Brown.
Funeral services were held at the home at Flat Gap at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 20, by Rev. Lonza Reed and Rev.Quire Thomas.
Burial was made in the family cemetary under the direction ofthe Jones Funeral Home.
