Echol Cole and Robert Walker were sanitation workers in Memphis killed (crushed) by an outdated malfunctioning garbage truck. Their deaths were a precursor to the 'Memphis Sanitation Strike' whose slogan was 'I am a Man'. Cole was 29. It caused Martin Luther King, Jr to come to Memphis where he was later assassinated.
