To meet with a numerous, happy and contented family where God’s blessing is invoked and ‘His spirit diffused', is, indeed, nowadays, something of rather rare occurrence, as strife and contention and materialistic pursuits, seem more and more to animate and absorb the actions of men. It is refreshing to enter a thorough Christian home and to chronicle events and happenings as they transpire from pure and sincere motives, thereby advancing the happy conditions of its happy surroundings. Nicholaus Boehler and his estimable companion, Sophie, live some four miles southwest of Raymond on a farm owned by Conrad Weller, whilst their own eighty acre farm is tilled by one of their newly married sons, Mic Jr. After having been joined in holy wedlock at Carlinville, July 22, 1863, by Rev. Rev. Father Schreiber, Mr. and Mrs. Nic. Boehler experienced the ups and downs of life but courageously strove onward, training and educating their children as best as their limited means would allow. Their efforts are rewarded, their sons and daughters repaying them by honest and upright lives thus alleviating the burden in their now declining old days.

Nicholaus Boehler hails from Ehrenstatten, near Freiburg, Baden, where he was born Dec. 6, 1832, and landed on the shores of New Orleans in 1854. He has been, with some intervals, around Raymond since the year 1857. Mrs. Boehler (nee Sophie Jung) comes from Steinmauren, near Rostatt, Baden, where she was born February 13, 1843. She arrived in New York May 15, 1859. The children born to this worthy couple are:
Helen, born July 5, 1864
Mary C, born February 5, 1866
Casper E., born November 7, 1867 (died when small)
John Martin born May 29, 1869 (died when small)
Anthony, born December 21, 1870

St. Isidore's Church in Brown Settlement was on February 19, 1901, a scene of a happy event when two well known and highly respected young people of Farmersville and Raymond, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by Rev.
