Walter Schott, 68, of 13 Sessions Drive, Hampden, formerly of Springfield, died at his home Friday. He was born Feb. 5, 1901 in Elberfeld, Germany. He had lived in Hampden for the past 18 years. Mr. Schott was the husband of Mrs. Marjorie D.(Field) Schott who died Sept. 7, 1967. He was employed for 25 years as a toolmaker at Springfield Armory, retiring in 1963. Mr. Schott was a member of Hampden Federated Community Church, Springfield Turnverein and Hampden Lodge of Masons. He is survived by a son, Walter H. of Hampden; three brothers, Hans of Huntington and Alfred and Werner, both of Longmeadow; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Franke of Springfield; five grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday morning at Byron's funeral home, with the Rev. Robert G. VanGorder, pastor of Hampden Federated Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Park cemetery. Visiting hours will be held tonight and Sunday.
