The following was quoted by Walter Henderson, grandson of Osborne, son of Joseph S.:
Osborne Henderson -" My grandfather born April 29, 1813 in Madison Co. Kentucky died March 21, 1897 in Glasgow Missouri at the house of his son Joseph S. having been parlayed and bed fast for two years. He came to Missouri with his father and family in 1832. He told me that at that time there having been no schools near them in Kentucky that he did not know how to read and write. He worked on a farm for several years and the farmers wife taught him to read and write and he afterwards became a well educated man by his own study and effort. After he left the farm he clerked for a Dr. Olear , an old German who had a drug store in a log building in the town of Glasgow on the Missouri River about 1841. The old Dr wanted to return to Germany and told Grandpa if he could get the money to buy the store and stock he would sell it to him. Grandpa had no trouble it seems to obtain the necessary amount and took possession. He was named after his grandmother Nancy Osborne."
