His dearest wish was to attend blacksmithing school, but he had to stay home and help his family. Then he had a family of his own. There was no money for blacksmithing school, especially during the Depression. He became a self-taught and skilled blacksmith, but always wished he had the schooling to back up his skills.
If it could break down, Hugo could repair it. He loved to hunt and fish, and was thrilled that his daughter appreciated the skills he taught her.
