This is an "In Memory of" marker. We could find no proof that Samuel Brewer is buried in the Mud Meetinghouse graveyard, but he could be. After serving in the Revolutionary War, Samuel moved to KY in 1784 around the time others of the Conewago Dutch Reformed group. Although he is not listed in the 1969 index of the Mud Meeting House burial ground, he lived nearby; his home recorded three miles south of Harrodsburg.

Samuel Brewer married Rebecca Smith in Mercer Co., Ky 13 May 1787 by Rev. David Rice.

He applied for a pension in 1832 when he was 75 years old, and walked 90 miles each way to visit his brother Peter Brewer in Hardin County Kentucky to get his affidavit. Pension #W8401. Peter Huff and Peter B. Huff served as witnesses for him. According to his pension record, Samuel entered service Spring 1780 under Capt David Vance and Col. Robert Vance in PA. Regularly served as Spy and Scout. Resided on Jacobs Creek in Tyrone Co PA at the time of entering service. Also enlisted and served two months as guard at Conemaugh PA and fought with Indians at "Golding's Place". Also in two campaigns against the Indians after 1787.

By 1838, Rebecca is listed as a widow.
