She married Michael Howland on July 4, 1844 by the Rev. H. F. Pease at the Sands Street Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York. They had four children in 12 years. She died on December 18, 1899, in Mrs. Margaret Howland died of exhaustion at Trenton on Monday, having lived a long life of 77 years, and was buried in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

Mrs. Margaret (Stillwell) Howland died of exhastion at Trenton on Monday, December 18th, aged 77 years. She was the daughter of Ann and Henry Stillwell and was born at Fort Hamilton, Long Island. Mrs. Howland leaves three children. They are Mrs. Robert Reynolds of Eatontown, and Mrs. Charles M. Smith and George B. Howland of Long Branch.
