Augustine Couture died at her home in Claremont, NH on November 16, 1998 after a sudden illness. She was born on January 31, 1908 in Pierreville, Quebec, Canada; the daughter of Auguste and Eva (Fontaine) Capistran.
She had lived in Claremont for seventy four years. She was a longtime Democrat and worked many hours on the John F Kennedy presidential campaign. She was also an avid card player and prolific knitter and crocheter. She was a member of the Court Virgil H Barber No 892 Catholic Daughters of Americas and a member of the St Anne Society.
She married Ernest Couture on September 6, 1926 in Claremont who preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters Claire Petuck of Claremont, twins Jane Collins of Creston, IA and Janet Albright of Acworth, NH; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Burial is in St Mary's Cemetery.
