Martha ("Marty") Spinozzi (nee Lenkart), 93, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Chicago Heights, IL, was received into Eternal Life on Friday, March 5, 2010 with family at her side.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Frank Lenkart; beloved husband, Joseph P. Spinozzi; sisters, Josephine Lenkart, Francine (John) Izzi, Judith (Howard) Lenhardt; and brother, Harry Lenkart.

Martha is survived by her loving family: daughters, Judith (Joseph, Sr.) Capriotti and Karen Spinozzi; grandsons, Joseph (Teresa) Capriotti and Brent (Heidi) Capriotti; two awesome great-grandsons, Christian Capriotti and Blake Capriotti; and many nieces, nephews and friends from the Paradise Valley Senior Center.

In her younger days, Martha excelled in athletics; she played Womens' Pro Softball, pitching for Vogel's Bloomer Girls while playing ball in Soldier Field. In 1937, the team became the Illinois State Champions! Martha, a proficient bowler, once threw ten strikes in a row!

Generous of heart, Martha gave to family and anyone in need. Martha's life motto was: "I did it my way" and believed her purpose in life was to make people laugh.

Visitation will be held from 5-8PM, Friday, March 12, 2010, Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 480-991-5800. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, March 13, 2010, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3801 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Interment will follow Mass at Desert Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 9435 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, AZ, 85345 or to St. Mary's Food Bank, 2831 N. 31st Ave. Phoenix, AZ, 85009, noting on the memo line "In honor of Martha Spinozzi."
