Joseph served as a Staff Sergeant on B-26C (#42-107627), 452nd Bomber Squadron, 322nd Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in New York County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 11, 1942 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

Joseph was "Killed In Action" when his B-26 was hit by enemy flak and crashed in France during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on March 1, 1950.
