MOTHER SHOT BY SON DIES IN THE HOSPITAL
Mrs. J.B. Shope, the woman from Cato who was brought to the hospital suffering from a gun shot wound in the right leg, died at 3:45 o'clock this morning. Her limb was riddled to pieces and she never rallied from the shock. She was aged about 50 years and is survived by her husband and a large family of children, George, her son, who did the shooting, is almost insane with grief and refuses to be comforted. The accident happened on the 17th birthday. The young man celebrated the event by going hunting and after an hour's stay in the woods returned with a pheasant. He was very much elated over his skill as a marksman and when his father returned home from work was showing him how he shot the pheasant. The gun was loaded and he accidentally discharged it, the whole charge striking his mother in the leg. Undertaker E.B. Waters took charge of the body and prepared it for burial.
